Super Flexible and Super Rewarding Part Time Work

Join Australia’s Largest Network of Palliative Care Vets

________________________________________________________________

Sunset Vets is a network of Vets passionate about evidence-based palliative medicine and end-of-life care. We’re growing and are currently looking to welcome a new Vets to our team, to help more families access this very special type of care.

We are particularly looking for Vets to provide additional support to our colleagues in Brisbane and Sydney but are also keen to connect with Vets from other regions across Australia who are drawn to this unique style of veterinary medicine.

This gig is a little different to a traditional veterinary role and will suit those looking for flexibility and work-life balance. If you have strong medicine skills, a desire to learn new things from a supportive team and are committed to delivering exceptional client care, we’d love to hear from you.

About Us:

Palliative care is a rapidly emerging field of veterinary medicine and Sunset Vets is dedicated to being at the forefront of it. We are currently Australia’s largest pal care team and continue to shape the development of this field through our training, conferences, and involvement with colleagues overseas through the International Association of Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC). Our network of Vets are mobile and provide home-based consultations and support. Our focus is on pain and symptom control, quality of life guidance to ensure no pet is left too long, and a commitment to delivering the most gentle euthanasia experience possible for families and patients who need our help.

We have a strong commitment to working alongside and supporting a patient’s Primary Care/Specialist veterinary teams and see our services as an adjunct only, and not a replacement, to these key relationships. For this reason, we do not provide any routine or preventative care services and work solely in the palliative care space.

Whilst you will be working one on one with clients in the home, you’ll be supported by our incredible Support team who coordinate your appointments, deal with billing and emotionally care for clients both before and after your visits. We work closely with Allied Health, as well as Psych’s and Counsellors who professionally handle any grief management, allowing you to focus on what you’re good at, while being part of a wider team delivering industry-leading care.

About the Job:

The role itself is flexible and is designed to be fitted in around family, everyday life, and/or another part-time clinical job. Our vets come from all walks of vet life but GP and ER backgrounds seem to suit particularly well. Set your own hours of availability, take your time with your patients, and remind yourself of why you love vet medicine again by working with wonderful clients who will typically do anything for their pets.

Who We Need:

We are looking for Vets who are natural communicators and who want to actively develop their clinical skills in end of life care. This is a growing field and a viable career path for those looking for something a little different. Opportunities for your education and professional development exist and will be supported. You will be working alongside Australia’s first Certified Palliative Care Veterinarian and a number of other qualified team members.

Our company culture and team dynamic are really important and we will want you to share in our desire to contribute, give back and actively grow the palliative care field within our industry for the betterment of patients.

Given the love, support and training we will invest in you, we are looking for someone who is able to be available on a regular basis knowing consulting blocks can be as short as 2-4hrs.

Remuneration is based on how many consultations you elect to do, so simply tell us your targets and we’ll help you get there.

Take the first step…..

We’re always excited to connect with compassionate Vets like you. We’d love to chat more; especially if you feel like this work is potentially a good fit for you.
