Sunset Vets Palliative and End of Life Care (Sunset Vets) was recently selected as a major case study for a cohort of undergraduate business students at Torrens University Australia. Drawing on their learnings across their course, the students worked hard to investigate the opportunities for Sunset Vets to grow and reach more families across Australia with their impact.
Dr. Jackie Campbell, Sunset Vets founder and veterinarian, said the opportunity to work with the students had given her a fresh perspective of how Sunset’s valuable services could be accessed by pet owners and veterinary practices across Australia.
“The project has been a wonderful reminder of just how important this work is,” she said.
“Our vision is to make specialised palliative and end of life care available in pet owner’s homes, right across Australia. The students have helped us identify the key drivers to deliver on this vision whilst enhancing the relationships with our existing industry partners.”
Dr. Alasdair MacDonald, Torrens University Australia Subject Coordinator, said the real-world application of learning has been instrumental to student success.
“The students have loved ‘consulting’ for Sunset Vets,” he said.
“They know the hard work is making a real difference to a business that does meaningful and important work in the community.”
Dr. Campbell is looking forward to implementing a number of strategies put forward by the students for 2023-2024.
“End of life care is an emerging field of veterinary medicine, and we have been delighted to have the students contribute to our strategic planning.”
