How have we managed to create, sustain, and expand our fabulous Sunset Vets team? The short answer is having a clear mission, establishing a values-based foundation then taking a people centred approach with everything we do.

Part of our mission is to lead the emerging field of veterinary palliative care which is one of the core reasons why Vets connect with our work plus it really helps that our main patient demographic are beautiful seniors – I mean who doesn’t love a grey muzzle, wobbly legs and eyes filled with years of love and loyalty?

We have an established well-defined set of values and vision that’s shared by every team member which allows us to deliberately craft a team that operates professionally from the heart; it’s easy to see all our Vets and Patient Care Co-Ordinators are all extraordinary humans.

We provide wrap around support for our Vet team from professional education, central points of contact for all things medical, comprehensive patient and visit co-ordination to regular team social events. In addition to our Patient Care Co-Ordinators who take care of all the logistics associated with visits we also have a Team Development Lead that concentrates on supporting our Vets with non patient related needs.

We believe it’s vitally important to have a dedicated team culture and well being resource because we deeply care about every team member and want to enable them to give of their very best and feel valued in return. Over the years we’ve celebrated so many of life’s milestone and precious moments with members of our team and sent even more care packages during the tough times because our ethos of compassion and care extends way beyond words.

Such an amazing, wonderful and supportive team. Saying goodbye to my little girl was hard, but the Sunset team took so much of the burden. Thank you to the extraordinary team at Sunset Vets who provided a high level of care and compassion when we recently had to say goodbye to our 14-year-old girl, Jewel. Allowing her to go at home in familiar surroundings made the process less stressful for her, our younger dog and ourselves.
