I only had the pleasure of meeting Cilla, her fur brother Toby and her lovely owners Cathy and Steve about a month ago, but this very special family will stay with me forever.

Cilla, a Sweet Little Lowchen was ‘The Boss’ of this household, but in the nicest possible way. There was no nastiness in this little dog, but she really knew how to get what she wanted. She loved the finer things in life, and was provided them by Cathy and Steve.

When I first met Cilla, she had multiple issues. Cathy and Steve restructured their whole existence to palliate their beloved little girl, all the while Toby was never far from Cilla’s side and was watching her with soulful eyes.

Cilla put up a tough fight in those final weeks of her life. We gave her a quality of life that allowed her family the time to prepare to say goodbye. She continued to rally and enjoy the tasty morsels of food Cathy and Steve offered her, and when the time came, Cilla was as graceful and dignified in death as she had been her entire life.

She was and is an angel, very much loved by all who knew her. I am grateful to have met her, Toby, Cathy and Steve.

Thank you to the extraordinary team at Sunset Vets who provided a high level of care and compassion when we recently had to say goodbye to our 14-year-old girl, Jewel. Allowing her to go at home in familiar surroundings made the process less stressful for her, our younger dog and ourselves.
