Patient Care Coordintor
Laura is a Veterinary Nurse originally from the UK who moved to Australia in 2001 to continue her career in veterinary nursing. After many years in the veterinary industry, Laura took an unexpected detour into the world of swimming, running a swim school on the beautiful Sunshine Coast for several years. However, her heart has always remained in veterinary care, and she has now returned to her roots, specialising in the palliative care of beloved pets.
Laura has always had a deep love for animals and has shared her life with many wonderful pets over the years. She currently lives with a rescue cat and a couple of cheeky Dachshunds who certainly keep her on her toes!
It always starts with one. Who was your special pet?
It’s so hard to choose just one, but Pippin, my first dog after leaving home, holds a very special place in my heart. She was a gorgeous Irish Wolfhound cross with the most affectionate nature and a charismatic personality. Pippin taught me so much about the special bond we share with our pets, and that experience has stayed with me throughout my veterinary nursing career.
What else are you passionate about?
Outside of work, I love spending time with family and friends and keeping active. You’ll often find me at a gym class or enjoying a walk along the beach. I also love travelling and making the most of my trips back to the UK by exploring new places along the way. Animal welfare has always been particularly important to me, and caring for animals remains one of my greatest passions.
What do you love about Palliative Care?
I feel incredibly privileged to be part of the team at Sunset Vets. Palliative care allows us to support owners through one of the most difficult stages of pet ownership, helping them make kind and compassionate decisions for their beloved companions. Being able to provide comfort, understanding and support to both pets and their families is deeply rewarding, and I feel very fortunate to be able to do what I love.
