Palliative Care Veterinarian
Dr Harry grew up on a small property outside Cooma, south of Canberra, where animals were part of everyday life from an early age. Surrounded by the rhythms of rural living, it felt natural that caring for animals would one day become his profession. These early experiences shaped not only his career path, but also his deep respect for the bond between people and the animals they love.
He was fortunate to study veterinary science at Charles Sturt University, graduating in 2019 with first class honours. Following graduation, Dr Harry spent several years working in mixed animal practice in Yass, where he developed a broad clinical skillset and a strong appreciation for the trust families place in their veterinarian. He later moved into small animal practice in Canberra, where he continued to refine his approach to compassionate, high-quality care.
Dr Harry brings a calm, thoughtful presence to his practice and values building genuine relationships with both his patients and their families. He understands that veterinary care is not only about medicine, but also about being present for families during some of life’s most emotional moments. He feels privileged to support his patients through their final chapter and strives to ensure every goodbye is gentle, respectful, and guided by kindness.
Special interests: Palliative care and pain management, clinical pathology and surgery.
It always starts with one. Who was your special pet? Growing up on a farm we only ever had working dogs, but Charlee was our first ever inside dog! A cavoodle (before they were all the craze) who felt she was a farm dog anyway!
What else are you passionate about? I’m passionate about community, and everyone having a place, a team or group that they can be a part of. I’m passionate about physical health, be it gym, running, pilates or sport.
What do you love about palliative medicine? Pets are not concerned with time, they are more present in the world than we will ever be. To them, they are only concerned about the here and now. If we can make the here and now better, more comfortable, more calm, then that is a good thing.
