Our Benevolence Fund
Pets are family and we know how much it hurts to see them struggling. For some families, this pain is compounded by knowing that they cannot afford the kind of care that may be needed. The Sunset Benevolence Fund is designed to help families who find themselves in difficult financial circumstances, with pets in need of access to our care.
How it all began..
A couple of years ago, a much loved client made the very difficult decision to say goodbye to her beautiful rescue Shepherd, Marie. This client had gone above and beyond for her four-legged friend and invested a significant amount of money into keeping her girl as comfortable as possible over the years. It was clear to everyone that these two shared a special bond and our hearts were warmed when two friends of this client, contacted us to directly offering to cover the cost of any further medical expenses.
When it came time to say goodbye to Marie, all costs had been paid in advance and this incredible kindness sparked the birth of the Sunset Benevolence Fund. Read more about the Sunset Benevolence Fund started HERE.
This fund has grown from a single act of benevolence into a giving program of charity and goodwill that supports sick or aging pets when their owners are financially unable to do so and are in genuine need of assistance.
The fund is a lifeline for disadvantaged pet lovers, but it also provides an outlet for expressions of kindness and sympathy from others in the pet-loving community wanting to reach out or donate in memory of their own beloved pet.

How does it work?
All monetary donations received go directly toward paying for care of clients identified as being in necessitous circumstances and in genuine need of financial assistance. The fund is designed to help as many people as possible, however, it is carefully managed and applicants must meet certain criteria to be eligible.
How to donate?
The fund is generously supported by charitable contributions and donations from members of our community and we are always looking for additional donations to continue to help companion animals and the families who love them. Many of our clients elect to donate in memory of their special pet.

We know that sometimes asking for help can be difficult. If you or a loved one is in need of financial assistance to access the services provided by Sunset Vets (In-home Euthanasia and Palliative Support) and would like us to consider your circumstances, please reach out.
Please note we are not able to contribute to Veterinary costs for cases requiring surgery or hospitalisation.
