Chelsie has always been fascinated by animals and this led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Ecology. She furthered her passion with a certificate in Animal Management, specialising in captive wild management. Chelsie’s journey took an unexpected turn when she began working in doggy daycares and discovered a love for training and communicating with dogs. Seeking adventure, she travelled through Southeast Asia, combining her interests in surfing and wildlife observation.

Chelsie has now settled on the Sunshine Coast and has embraced a new chapter with her first fur-baby, a lively Border Collie named Chucky.

It always starts with one. Who was your special pet?

It’s truly difficult to choose just one; all my pets have held a special place in my heart and played significant roles in my life. However, Indy, my childhood dog, a little Jack Russell, in particular stands out. We were inseparable buddies and partners in mischief. Indy had the sweetest nature and was adored by everyone who met her.

What else are you passionate about?

I have a variety of passions that keep me engaged and fulfilled. I find joy in crocheting, which I find both relaxing and creatively fulfilling. Reading is another passion of mine; I love learning new things through books. Surfing, hiking, and camping are activities that allow me to fully immerse myself in the outdoors, whether I’m riding the waves or trekking through scenic trails.

What do you love about Palliative Care?

Palliative medicine in veterinary care holds a special place for me because it enables owners to cherish the final stages of their pets’ lives. What could be a distressing time is transformed into a peaceful and comfortable experience, as pets receive care that ensures they are pain-free and at ease in the familiar surroundings of their home. This approach not only enhances the quality of life for pets but also supports owners in navigating difficult decisions with empathy and guidance.

Words you live by:

What day is it?” asked Pooh. “It’s today,” squeaked Piglet. “My favorite day,” said Pooh.
