Palliative Care Veterinarian
Our wonderful Dr Chelsea graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (Honours) from the University of Queensland before beginning her career with a specialty clinic internship on the Gold Coast. During this time, she gained experience across a wide range of small animal medicine and discovered a passion for emergency and critical care.
Now based here on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, Dr Chelsea works in emergency medicine while also pursuing her special interests in palliative and end-of-life care. By caring for pets during some of their most vulnerable moments, she has developed a deep appreciation for the bond between people and their animals, and the importance of supporting both pets and their families with compassion.
Chelsea grew up surrounded by much-loved pets, including her beloved Golden Retriever, Mango. With an understanding of just how special people’s relationships with their pets are, she feels privileged to be able help families navigate the challenges that come with ageing, illness, and end-of-life care. She is committed to ensuring every pet receives comfort, dignity, and gentle support along their journey.
It always starts with one. Who was your special pet? I grew up surrounded by many much-loved pets who inspired my passion for veterinary medicine and caring for animals. They also gave me an early appreciation for the compassion and support veterinarians provide during life’s most difficult moments. My beautiful Golden Retriever, Mango, who is still by my side today, holds a particularly special place in my heart.
What else are you passionate about? Outside of work, I enjoy exploring new places and spending time making the most of the beautiful Sunshine Coast lifestyle.
What do you love about palliative medicine? I believe palliative and end-of-life care is one of the most meaningful aspects of veterinary medicine. I value prioritising a patient’s comfort, wellbeing, and quality of life, while supporting families through an important and often difficult time. Helping people feel heard, understood, and supported is something I care deeply about. I love that palliative medicine places a pet’s comfort and dignity at the centre of every decision.
